Tunisia is a very popular holiday destination and if you go there it is easy to see why. Whether you want a beach holiday or a holiday dedicated to sight-seeing and exploring or even a combination of the two, you will find it all here in Tunisia. The scenery is breathtaking as well, with some fantastic mountain ranges and beautiful countryside.

The three main beach resorts are Sousse, Hammamet and Monastir. The beaches are really gorgeous and the sea is crystal clear. Monastir is the hometown of the first President of Tunisia, Habib Bourguiba. All three cities have plenty of restaurants and bars and a variety of nightlife.

Tunis, the capital, is built on the ruins of the famous ancient city of Carthage and there is still plenty of evidence to be seen of this great city. There are Roman ruins including an amphitheatre and baths. The North African American War Cemetery is also in Tunis. Tunisia has played a big part in the history of the world and at various times has been ruled by Romans, Berbers, Ottomans and the French, among others.

Wherever you go in the country there are historical remains and sites to be seen. At El Jen there is a Roman coliseum that is every bit as impressive as the one in Rome. Then there is the Medina, a big monument set in the desert near Tunis. It is probably one of the most visited sites in Tunisia.

If you really want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the mainland, then you should visit the Isle of Djerba. It is quite secluded and is a place where you can relax and enjoy some peace and quiet. One of the Star Wars films was actually filmed on this island.
